Purple Shin Football

The Trophy

The Purple Shin is a life-size cast of a tibia bone from a Gallimimus Bullatus dinosaur and is proudly on display in the Cavendish Canteen.
The Gallimimus lived in the Late Cretaceous period, about 75-70 million years ago, having a large brain but hollow bones - apt, we think, for football players at the Cavendish.

The shin was painted purple in 2009 by PhD Student Niraj Lal, and mounted on a beautiful teak base in 2010 (proudly on display in the Cavendish Canteen) with the help of two Cavendish Legends: Carpenter Mr. Graham Cox and Workshop Supervisor Mr. Chris Summerfield
