History
- The Cavendish Purple Shin was started in 2009 by Niraj (Nij) Lal (a Physics PhD student in the NanoPhotonics Group at the Cavendish).
- Adam Robinson organised the tournament in 2012.
- David Taylor oragnised the tournament in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 & 2017.
Contrary to popular belief, Sir Joseph John Thomson (far right), discoverer of the electron, did not play Purple Shin Football.
